Nickname “The Railsplitters” the 84th Infantry Division
Landed in the United Kingdom in Oktober “1944”
And between 1-4 November “1944” the Division landed on “Omaha Beach” from where they moved in November “1944” to the vicinity of Gulpen the Netherlands. They saw action November 18th with the attack on Geilenkirchen Germany (Operation Clipper)
Going the Aachen, Operating under the command of Lt-Gen. Brain Horrocks the Division was supported by British tanks of the “Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry specialist aroured units of the 79th Armoured Division and 30th Corps. After heavy enemy resistance taking Beeck (Geilenkirchen) they had a short rest before moving to Belgium to help in the Battle of the Bulge.
In March “1945” the took Krefelt, on April 10th they capture Hanover, by April 13th they reached the Elbe River to meet the Soviet Troops.
